The Gau means “cow”, and Daan means “gifting.” Therefore, Gau Daan is the process of gifting a cow. Kings used to perform Gau Daan puja in the historical period, where they gift the cow to Brahmins and seek blessings.

Gifting the cow is the biggest daan in Sanatan Dharam. It is said that the cow is the home of God, as each particle in the cow’s body has thirty-three Gods residing.

The fourteen Mythological words survive in the limbs of the cow, whereas Lord Brahma and Vishnu occupy the place in the roots of its horns and so on. The Gau Daan puja is enacted by Brahmin using samagri Dhoop, deep, roli, Akshat, grass, and more for an auspicious pooja.
